how do we talk with young children about race and racial violence?

class offerings

We offer class and workshop space in a variety of ways. However, regardless of the format and we try to ground the work in both a historical and somatic context. We always attempt to explore: how was race created and what has the creation of race done to our bodies? We believe supporting adult’s historical understanding and emotional capacity to think and feel about race are essential to effectively engaging with young people. Once that foundation is laid we shift to focuses on building our imaginations and translation skills that can be utilized to talk about race and racial violence with children as young as babies and toddlers. We usually work with educators, teachers, parents and caregivers for young children. That being said, this framework can be useful for people of all ages. If we can stay regulated and speak clearly about race to three year olds, we probably can also do so with older people as well!

We are interested and excited to collaborate in many different ways and formats. Details about different options are below. If you have requests for collaboration that aren’t below, please still fill out a form and we look forward to hearing your ideas.
